Cookie Policy
Effective date: 9 October 2026
A cookie is a small piece of text that a website asks your browser to store and hand back on later visits, which is how a site can recognise a returning browser. Similar technologies do the same job by other means — browser storage areas, invisible images loaded from another server, or scripts that read characteristics of your browser to build a distinguishing signature.
Subtle Shift uses none of them. The list below is what we checked, item by item, rather than a general assurance.
What we checked
- Cookies set by this site
- Not used. No page on subtleshift.online sets a cookie of any kind, including a session identifier.
- Cookies set by others through this site
- Not used. Nothing from another organisation runs on these pages, so no third party is in a position to set one.
- localStorage
- Not used. The script on this site writes nothing to it.
- sessionStorage
- Not used. Nothing is kept between pages or between visits.
- IndexedDB
- Not used. No database is created in your browser.
- Tracking pixels
- Not used. There are no invisible images, beacons or counters, from us or anyone else.
- Browser fingerprinting
- Not used. Nothing reads or combines characteristics of your browser or device to identify it.
- Web fonts and third-party scripts
- Not used. The pages use fonts already on your device and one short script served from this site. No code, font, stylesheet or image is loaded from any other server.
- Server access logs
- Used. Our hosting provider records each request in the ordinary way, as described below.
Why there is no banner
Consent banners exist so that a reader can refuse something before it happens. Here there is nothing to refuse, so a banner would be asking permission for an activity that does not take place. We would rather publish this page than show a notice that is not true.
What does happen when you load a page
Your browser requests the page from our hosting provider, and the provider records the request in an access log: the IP address, the date and time, the URL requested, the referring page if your browser sends one, and the user-agent string. Those logs are kept for 30 days and then deleted. They are used to keep the site available and secure and to diagnose faults.
That is the entire list. Nothing else is recorded, and nothing is placed on your device. The Privacy Policy describes the logs in more detail and says who holds them.
The checklists do not remember your ticks
The boxes on the checklists page are drawn, not interactive, and the page keeps no record of what you have done. If you reload it, nothing has been saved — not in a cookie, not in localStorage or sessionStorage, not in IndexedDB, and not on our side. This is why the page is built to print: paper is the storage.
After you follow an affiliate link
Some links here are paid affiliate links, explained on the Affiliate Disclosure page. Following one takes you to a different website. Star Stable Online and the affiliate network that operates the link may set cookies on their own domains to record that the referral came from here. That happens on their sites, under their own notices, and ESTAK STAV, s.r.o. neither controls it nor can switch it off. If it matters to you, read their cookie and privacy notices before signing up to anything.
Blocking or clearing cookies generally
Every current browser lets you see what has been stored, delete it, and refuse future cookies, usually under a privacy or site-data section of its settings. Most also offer a private or incognito window that discards everything at the end of the session. Blocking cookies broadly will change how other sites behave — some will ask you to log in repeatedly — but it will have no effect at all on this one, because there is nothing here to block.
If this ever changes
If Subtle Shift ever needs a cookie, this page will be rewritten to say exactly what it is and what it does, with the effective date updated, and a working consent mechanism will be in place before any cookie is set. No cookie will appear here first and be explained afterwards.
