About Subtle Shift
Subtle Shift publishes one thing: a five-step workbook for Australian readers who are about to deal with an online game account for the first time. There is nothing else on the site and nothing planned.
Who publishes it
Subtle Shift is published by ESTAK STAV, s.r.o., a company registered in the Czech Republic.

The company is not VAT-registered, so no VAT number is shown anywhere on this site.
Where this site needs an author, the author is the ESTAK STAV, s.r.o. editorial team. We do not publish bylines or staff profiles, because the material is not the product of a named individual's expertise and presenting it as such would be misleading.
How the course was structured
The five steps follow the order in which a household meets these decisions, which is not the order a vendor's website presents them. The sequence runs: understand the arrangement, write down your own constraints, read the vendor's terms against those constraints, set the account up and test it, then keep it under review.
That order was chosen because the most common failure we set out to address is not a lack of information — vendors publish a great deal — but reading that information without a prior position. Steps 1 and 2 exist so that Step 3 is a comparison rather than a reaction.
Each step ends in a checklist because a checklist is the part people actually reuse. The checklists are gathered on one page and the page is styled to print, which is the form in which we expect them to be used.
What the sources are
The course draws on two kinds of material and keeps them separate.
Where something is a matter of Australian law, regulation or official guidance, we link to the Australian body responsible and describe only what that body is. Those bodies are the eSafety Commissioner for online safety, the Australian Classification Board for game classification, the ACCC for consumer law, the OAIC for privacy, Scamwatch for scam reporting and the Australian Cyber Security Centre for account security. We do not restate thresholds, ratings or legal tests in our own words, because those change and a paraphrase ages badly.
Everything else — the order of the questions, the advice to test a setting rather than assume it, the reading method in Step 3 — is general guidance and is written as such. It is not research, it is not based on testing we have conducted, and we make no measurements, statistics or comparative claims anywhere on this site. There are no reviews, scores or rankings here for the same reason.
Facts about any named product come only from what the vendor or its affiliate network states. Where we do not have a statement, the course says so and sends you to the vendor's own site rather than filling the gap.
The commercial relationship, stated plainly
This site carries paid affiliate links. ESTAK STAV, s.r.o. is paid a commission by the affiliate network that operates the link when a reader signs up through it. That relationship exists with exactly one product named in the course, Star Stable Online, and that is why it is the product named rather than another.
We think a reader is entitled to know that before weighing anything we say about it, which is why it appears on the homepage, beside every such link, and in full on the Affiliate Disclosure page.
What the commission does not do is decide the content. The five steps would be the same if the arrangement ended tomorrow; the brand would simply not be named. No vendor reviews, approves or sees this material before it is published, and no vendor has asked us to say anything.
How often it is reviewed
The whole course is reviewed on a fixed schedule twice a year, and additionally whenever we become aware of a change in Australian consumer, privacy, classification or online safety guidance that affects what a step says. The date of the most recent review appears in the footer of every page.
A review checks three things: that every outbound link still reaches the body it claims to, that nothing stated as fact has become wrong, and that no paragraph has drifted into making a claim about a product that we cannot source.
If you find something out of date or incorrect, the fastest way to get it fixed is to tell us. Corrections are made to the page and the review date is updated.
What this site is not
It is not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by any game vendor. It is not a news publication and nothing here is reporting. It is not accredited training: there is no enrolment, no assessment, no certificate and no record of who has read what.
It is also not advice for your particular circumstances. It is general information, and Step 3 in particular tells you where to read the authoritative version rather than trying to be it.
How the site is built
Subtle Shift is static HTML with one stylesheet and one short script. It sets no cookies, uses no analytics, loads no fonts or code from anywhere else, and makes no request to any server other than the one hosting the page you are reading. There is no form on the site and nothing to sign up for. The details are in the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy.
